About

My name is Amy Andrews and I am a freelance writer and copywriter.

My introduction to film could be described as somewhat unconventional, my earliest cinematic memory being my mother sitting me down aged four and deciding it was about time I watched The Rocky Horror Picture Show. It remains my favourite film to this day and any lasting psychological damage is forgiven in favour of the story in which I stood up during Year One show and tell and proclaimed that the newest word I had learnt was “transsexual transvestite from Transylvania”.

A few film basics:

Favourite films: Mary Poppins, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Thelma & Louise, The Silence Of The Lambs, The Wizard Of Oz, Aliens, Jackie Brown.

Favourite actors: Al Pacino, Tom Hanks, Martin Sheen, Samuel L. Jackson, Jack Nicholson, Robert De Niro.

Favourite actresses: Katharine Hepburn, Jodie Foster, Maggie Smith, Diane Keaton, Sigourney Weaver, Juliette Binoche, Sally Field.

  1. Enjoyed your blog, appreciate the range of subjects you cover regarding film and that you also have an appreciation for classic movies of the past. If and when you get a chance, you might get a look at my blog entitled filmgeek101.wordpress.com and check out a post from October of last year entitled “5 Reasons Why 1946-1960 Was the Best Period in Moviemaking History”, along with subsequent posts listing the top 100 movies of that period that you might find interesting. Keep up the good work and thanks!

  2. Hi Amy, first off I really enjoyed browsing the blog- really informative and professionally executed, but fun all the same! Kudos! I was wondering whether there was a way to contact you personally (via email etc) as I have a few questions to ask regarding my own blog, ‘Five Day Film Blog’. There is nothing there at the moment except an arbitrary review which that be taken down at a later date, as I am still getting to grips with how to use wordpress. Any help or advice regarding how you maintain your blog, to how you find time to review so many films as well as how you budget for cinema entry fee’s (must cost a bomb!). Feel free to contact me at fivedayfilmblog@gmail.com, thanks again!

  4. hi
I was wondering if anybody knows the name of the movie or director of a film wherein a ship docks and passengers disembark, it is very noir and has a very long opening shot of that ship. Cars arrive and take the people away, I think some people just walk away. Ship is shot from high, bow is hulking
    thanks Jim

  5. Hi, I’m starting to do this thing where I promote other film blogs like my own in exchange for them to do the same on their respective blogs, I was wondering if you wanted to do the same? Let me know if you’re interested.

  6. Hi, My name is Chris and I’m an aspiring movie blogger like you. I know you’re very busy, but if you could take a little time out and look at my movie reviews blog; chrisbreviews.blogspot.com, and give me any feedback with regards to content of the reviews and anything about the site, that would be great! You’re a huge role model for me and I would love to hear some of your words of wisdom.

If you also have any advice on how to increase traffic and get an income from movie blogging, that would also be much appreciated.

    Thanks so much in advance!
